We are Glassroots.
Our recycling programs are community- run from bottle to coast!
We have two recurring volunteering opportunities for Recycling Assistance and Coastal Restoration Sandbagging.
Join our group of volunteers to help make glass recycling more enjoyable, equitable, and accessible.
Check the calendar below to see what's offered when and to sign up! Volunteers must be 16+ or 14+ with a parent or guardian.
Recycling Assistance
You can support the Louisa Street Warehouse recycling drop off process and help educate recyclers about the process. Volunteers will be asked to wear PPE (safety vest, goggles and earplugs), which will be provided on site.
This opportunity is best suited for individuals.
Sandbagging for Coastal Restoration
This fall, we're building a sand berm using recycled glass sand and recycled burlap to restore marsh habitat in the Bayou Bienvenue area.
With the help of volunteers, like yourself, we'll be using 100 tons of recycled sand to build a berm 570 feet long to slow erosion and help rehabilitate the marsh.
Individuals are welcome to sign up for any dates that have available spots. This opportunity is well suited for groups of 10 or more and is capped at 50 individuals. If you are interested in scheduling a group to come volunteer, please reach out to Arlo Townsley at arlo@weareglassroots.org.
