We are Glassroots

Our recycling programs are community run from bottle to coast!

Individuals are welcome to sign up for any available date below. Interested in bringing a group to volunteer? Reach out to Arlo Townsley at arlo@weareglassroots.org to get your group scheduled.

See the calendar below to see our upcoming volunteer opportunities! Volunteers must be 16+ with a parent or guardian.

Litter Stoppers
Every resident deserves a clean block. Litter Stoppers is our effort to maintain healthy, welcoming spaces at community glass recycling drop-off sites. Volunteers gather to clean up litter, sort out the recyclables, and keep these shared spaces safe and clean for everyone who uses them.

Sandbagging for Coastal Restoration
In March 2026, we're building a sand berm using recycled glass sand and recycled burlap to restore marsh habitat in the Bayou Bienvenue area. With the help of volunteers, like yourself, we'll be using 100 tons of recycled sand to build a berm 570 feet long to slow erosion and help rehabilitate the marsh.
